Santorini has one of the highest concentrations of wineries per square kilometre of anywhere in Greece, most of them within a fifteen-minute drive of each other in the south-central part of the island. Nearly all offer tastings, and several have restaurants attached with caldera or vineyard views.
What to expect from a tasting
Most wineries offer a flight of three to six wines, usually including at least one Assyrtiko, and often a Nykteri or Vinsanto. Some larger producers run more formal, bookable tours through the production facility; smaller, family-run wineries tend to be more informal walk-in tastings, though booking ahead in peak season is still wise.
Combining a winery visit with the rest of your day
