Cycling, plain-language geology, and a new content-checking tool

This week: five new guides, plus a behind-the-scenes fix — the duplicate/broken-link check we kept doing by hand is now an actual script.

Alongside this week's content, a small but genuinely useful change happened behind the scenes: the duplicate-slug and broken-link checks we've been running by hand before every batch are now a single script, _source/check_content.py. Run it from _source/ any time before or after generate.py — it checks both languages, both kinds of past mistakes, in one pass.

What's new

  • Do gained a cycling guide (where it works, where it really doesn't) and a horseback-riding and donkey-rides guide, including a direct note on the animal-welfare concerns around Fira's donkey path.
  • Culture gained a plain-language geology guide — why the beaches are three colours, why the cliffs look striped, what a caldera actually is.
  • Stay gained a direct, opinionated companion to last week's worked-budget guide: is the caldera-view premium actually worth it, and for whom.
  • Food gained a practical grocery-shopping and markets guide, aimed at villa and apartment stays.

As always, the full backlog lives in our content plan, and corrections go to the contact page.
