First, choose Oia or Imerovigli
Four of these hotels are in Oia and two are in Imerovigli. Oia puts you inside the island's most famous village, close to its pedestrian lane, restaurants and sunset crowds. Katikies Santorini (Oia)
Katikies describes two distinct Oia settings: Pelagos House in the lively heart of the village and Gea House at its quieter edge. The official site confirms caldera and volcano views, three infinity pools and a location at the start of the main pedestrian road. That makes it a useful candidate for travellers who want the classic white-on-blue Oia experience without being isolated from restaurants and shops.
Do not assume every photograph applies to every room. Ask which house, view, terrace and pool arrangement belongs to your category, plus the steps from vehicle drop-off. The hotel currently welcomes guests aged over 13, a detail families should confirm directly because policies can change.
Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel (Oia)
Mystique is Marriott's Luxury Collection option in Oia. Its official room inventory ranges from cave-style suites with private terraces to large villas with pools or jacuzzis. The practical appeal is clear for Marriott loyalists: a distinctive cliffside hotel with a recognised booking and benefits system.
The cave geometry still wins over brand expectations. Check natural light, privacy, stairs, pool type and the precise view for the room you are pricing. Marriott currently lists valet parking and in-room Wi-Fi, but neither detail tells you how far luggage travels from road to suite or whether the connection meets your work needs.
Andronis Luxury Suites (Oia)
Andronis Luxury Suites says it has 39 suites and villas in the heart of Oia, with a mix of infinity pools, cave pools and heated hot tubs. That variety is exactly why it belongs on a research list — and why you must price a named category rather than the property in the abstract.
It best fits couples who want to be immersed in Oia and value a private-water feature. Ask whether yours is a swimming pool, cave pool or hot tub; whether it is heated during your stay; how exposed the terrace is to neighbours; and whether the view is caldera-facing.
Grace Hotel, Auberge Collection (Imerovigli)
Grace is Auberge's clifftop retreat in Imerovigli. The hotel's own site places it above the Aegean in the village, while current room pages distinguish rooms, suites and a villa rather than promising one identical experience. It is the obvious candidate here for travellers who want a polished hotel but prefer Imerovigli's calm to Oia's daytime foot traffic.
That calm does not eliminate cliff logistics. Confirm the exact stair route, road access and whether every facility you intend to use is comfortably reachable. Seasonal operation and age policies also deserve a direct check before booking.
Astra Suites (Imerovigli)
Astra presents itself as an all-suite Imerovigli hotel above the caldera, with balconies, a pool bar and on-site dining. Its location facing Skaros makes it a strong alternative for travellers who want sunset colour and broad caldera views without organising each day around Oia.
Compare balcony privacy and size, not just the word “suite”. Ask about stairs, the nearest vehicle stop and the difference between each view category. Imerovigli has restaurants, but fewer late choices than Fira, so an on-site dinner can be genuinely useful rather than merely decorative.
Canaves Oia Suites (Oia)
Canaves Oia Suites' current official description centres on cliff-carved suites, caldera vistas, a cave spa and Petra Restaurant. Some categories advertise plunge pools; others do not. The property also participates in Small Luxury Hotels of the World and currently appears through Hilton's SLH partnership, useful for travellers comparing direct and loyalty-channel terms.
Treat “Oia” as a broad location label, not proof that your terrace faces the famous castle sunset. Confirm orientation, walking time to the part of Oia you care about, and what any loyalty booking actually includes.
How I would cut this shortlist
- For Oia immersion: compare Katikies, Andronis and Canaves by exact terrace, water feature and access.
- For recognised loyalty channels: start with Mystique through Marriott and check Canaves' current SLH/Hilton terms.
- For a quieter caldera base: compare Grace and Astra in Imerovigli.
- For mobility or heavy luggage: ignore reputation until the hotel confirms the full step count from vehicle to room and facilities.

- Is this exact room's view caldera-facing, and is its terrace private?
- How many steps are there from vehicle drop-off to the room?
- Is luggage assistance available at my arrival and departure times?
- Is the advertised pool or hot tub private, usable and heated on my dates?
- Which meals, transfers, taxes and locally collected charges are included?
- What is the cancellation deadline in Greek local time?
