Pet-friendly accommodation exists on Santorini, but it's a minority of listings, concentrated more in the flatter east-coast towns than in caldera-rim cave suites, which often aren't practical for animals regardless of a hotel's official policy.
Where it's easier
Kamari, Perissa and inland villages like Pyrgos and Megalochori (see our Kamari and Megalochori guides) generally offer more ground-floor, flat-access accommodation suited to travelling with a pet than the stepped cave suites common in Oia and Imerovigli.
Practical considerations
- Hot surfaces — black-sand beaches and stone caldera lanes both get uncomfortably hot for paws in summer midday sun; early morning or evening walks are safer.
- Shade and water — the caldera path and most beaches offer little natural shade; carry water for your pet on any longer walk.
- Entry requirements — as with any EU travel, confirm current pet passport, vaccination and (for non-EU travellers) import requirements well ahead of your trip; these are handled at the Greek/EU border level, not locally on the island.
Always confirm pet policy directly with a specific property rather than relying on a general "pet-friendly" filter — restrictions on size, number of pets, and additional cleaning fees vary widely.
