Santorini's shopping streets, especially in Oia and Fira, lean heavily toward generic souvenirs — but a smaller set of genuinely island-made products is worth looking for specifically.
Wine
Bottles from the island's own wineries (see our wineries guide) are the most straightforwardly "of Santorini" purchase available, and many wineries sell directly at better prices than shops in the tourist centres.
Local food products
Santorini fava, sun-dried cherry tomatoes, and capers are all grown on the island and travel well — look for packaging that specifies Santorini origin, since imported equivalents are sold alongside genuine local products in some shops.
Jewellery and ceramics
Oia in particular has a number of independent jewellery workshops and galleries, some run by artists working on-site — worth a browse in the village's quieter back lanes, away from the main caldera-facing strip, where prices and quality both tend to improve.
What to be cautious of
"Handmade" signage isn't a guarantee — mass-produced imported goods are common in the busiest tourist streets. If a piece's authenticity matters to you, ask directly where and how it was made; a shop proud of genuinely local work will usually say so readily.
