February sits alongside January as one of Santorini's two quietest months — cold, wet by the island's standards, and still mostly closed for tourism, though the very end of the month can bring the first signs of the season starting to stir.
Weather
Similar to January: daytime highs around 13–15°C, with the island's wettest and windiest stretch of the year still in play. Clear, sunny winter days do happen, but they're not the norm.
Clean Monday and Carnival
Greek Carnival season (Apokries) builds toward Clean Monday, a movable holiday that falls in February or March depending on the year — traditionally marked with kite-flying and outdoor meals to mark the start of Lent. It's a low-key, local event on Santorini rather than a major tourist draw, but worth knowing about if your dates land on it.
Crowds and what's open
Still very quiet, with most seasonal hotels, beach bars and caldera-view restaurants closed. A gradual reopening tends to begin toward the end of February and into March as businesses prepare for the coming season — worth checking specific opening dates if you're visiting in the back half of the month.

Much like January: a real off-season trip for travellers who want low prices, few crowds, and an authentic, unpolished version of the island — not a substitute for a beach or caldera-view holiday.
