Daytime highs typically climb from around 14°C early in the month toward the high teens by the end, with rainfall dropping off noticeably compared to January and February. Still too cool for swimming, but genuinely pleasant for walking and sightseeing.
Greek Independence Day
March 25th marks Greek Independence Day, a national holiday observed with flag displays and, in larger towns, small parades — a modest but genuine local event rather than a major tourist occasion on Santorini specifically.
Crowds and what's open
Quiet through most of the month, with a steady stream of seasonal reopenings — hotels, restaurants and shops that closed for winter start bringing staff back and preparing for the season. By late March a meaningful share of the island is open again, though not yet at full summer capacity. Worth checking specific businesses directly if your trip falls early in the month.

Late March, in particular, is an underrated window — noticeably warmer and more open than February, still genuinely quiet compared to April onward, and priced accordingly.
